Jordan has a long tradition of hospitality toward travelers, from the days when camel caravans traveled the legendary Road of Kings carrying incense in exchange for spices. Nabataean merchants, Roman legionnaires, Muslim armies and fierce crusaders all reached this land, leaving behind spectacular monuments, including Roman theaters, Crusader castles and Christian mosaics, that would later attract travelers fascinated by ancient history or in search of the origins of the faith.
